If your kids aren’t the most adventurous eaters, our Favorite Butter Noodle Recipe is sure to be a winner. Make sure to make extra because adults love these delicious Butter Noodles, too. This is a simple, classic recipe that’s great as a main or side dish. You might even have the ingredients on hand, so they’re perfect for an easy last-minute dinner.
As much as I would love for my kids to devour all the veggie-filled recipes I post, the reality is that they eat these Butter Noodles way more than I like to admit! I can’t blame them, though, because this buttery pasta dish is so good! Every time I make them for the kids, I make a little extra because both my husband and I can’t help but enjoy them, too.
Butter noodles are a classic, simple recipe that people have been making for a long time. I started making them more after having kids, and this is the recipe I use most. Many butter pasta recipes call for parmesan cheese, which is delicious, but I don’t always have that on hand, so for this recipe, I went simple: just butter, soy sauce, and salt. My kids go crazy for them.
Favorite Butter Noodle Recipe Ingredients
- Noodles – Wavy egg noodles are traditionally used in most buttery pasta recipes, but you can use any kind of noodle you like. My kids really like this curly rotini.
- Butter – You can use regular or vegan butter for this recipe. If using salted butter, keep that in mind when adding soy sauce and salt. Oil can be used in place of the butter; I frequently make this recipe with olive oil.
- Soy Sauce – Soy sauce mixed with butter creates a delicious umami flavor. Instead of soy sauce, you can use liquid aminos, coconut aminos, or tamari.
- Salt – Most of the saltiness in this recipe comes from the soy sauce, but it’s nice to add a little bit of regular salt, too.
- Parmesan Cheese (optional) – I don’t usually add parmesan to my butter noodle recipe unless I have some on hand. Feel free more to add some grated parmesan.
How To Make The Best Easy Butter Noodles
- Fill a large pot with water and place it on medium-high heat on the stove. Once the water is boiling, add your pasta and cook according to package directions. If desired, add a big pinch of salt to the water.
- Once pasta is finished cooking, drain well and add back to the pot. Add the butter and soy sauce and turn the heat on low. Stir well until the butter has completely melted and cook the pasta until there isn’t much (from the butter and soy sauce) left in the bottom of the pan.
- Season with salt, to taste and enjoy! You can garnish with fresh herbs if your child approves.
