As much as I would love for my kids to devour all the veggie filled recipes I post on here, the reality is that they eat these Butter Noodles way more than I would like to admit! I really can’t blame them though, because they’re so good! Every time I make them for the kids, I make a little extra because both my husband and I can’t help but pick at them too.
Butter noodles are a classic, simple recipe that people have many making for a long, long time. I started making them more after having kids and this is the recipe that I use most often. A lot of butter noodle recipes call for parmesan cheese, which is delicious, but I don’t always have that on hand, so I usually go really simple with just butter, soy sauce and salt and my kids go crazy for them.
Favorite Butter Noodle Recipe Ingredients
- Noodles – I think that the wavy egg noodles are traditionally used in most butter noodle recipes, but you can really use any kind of noodle you like. My kids really like this curly rotini.
- Butter – You can use regular butter or vegan butter for this recipe. If using salted butter, just keep that in mind when adding the amounts of soy sauce and salt. Oil can also be used in place of the butter. I frequently make this recipe with olive oil.
- Soy Sauce – The soy sauce mixed with the butter has are really good, almost umami flavor! Instead of soy sauce, you could also use liquid aminos, coconut aminos or tamari.
- Salt – Most of the saltiness in this recipe comes from the soy sauce, but it’s nice to add a little bit of regular salt in too.
- Parmesan Cheese (optional) – I don’t usually add parmesan cheese to my butter noodle recipe, unless I have some on hand, but you are more than welcome to add some grated parmesan to finish yours off with.
How To Make The Best Easy Butter Noodles
- Fill a large pot with water and place of medium-high heat on the stove. Once water is boiling, add your pasta and cook according to package directions. Feel free to add a big pinch of salt to the water, if desired.
- Once pasta is finished cooking, drain well and add back to the pot. Add in the butter and soy sauce and turn the heat on low. Stir together well until the butter has completely melted and then cook pasta until there isn’t really any liquid (from the butter and soy sauce) left in the bottom of the pan.
- Season with salt, to taste and enjoy! You can garnish with fresh herbs if your child allows that 🙂
